See You In The Gift Shop

Who could possibly walk past a cannon without taking a photo of it? This one was at Rochester Castle, Kent by the Medway River as if to be defending the bridge and river. I have absolutely no idea whether it was historically accurate or not. But, hey, it’s a cannon.

But should it matter whether it’s historically accurate?

Do historical sites, museums, and heritage centres have to be historically accurate?

Should they concentrate on getting visitors through the door?

Once through the door and when interest is, hopefully, piqued perhaps that is the time to explore historical accuracy.

So remember if you run any kind of museum, gallery, heritage attraction, and want to attract visitors get a cannon.

And if no one else goes, well, I might go. And I most certainly will if you have a gift shop…

filmmaking Kent marshes Location scouting

Location, Location: A Marsh

We’ve been location scouting in Kent. It’s always important to find not only the right location but also the right people to work with. Fortunately we found both great people and great locations in this fabulous county. We always think time spent in pre -production is never wasted. Hope to be filming near St. Mary’s, Higham later in the year. The area is close to Charles Dickens’ former home at Gads Hill, and close to some great Kentish marshes, which feature in Great Expectations.

Beside the Sea, Beside the Gallery

Always sunny in Margate. Caters for all. It now has the fantastic Turner Contemporary Gallery, and of course it’s also Margate with its great beaches, old town, artists’ and creative quarter, and let’s not forget those slots.
We’ve been really lucky filming along the Kent coast over the last few days. There are so many interesting artists in this part of Kent, a great creative environment to work and live.
